How come there's a Teflon and PVDF extended delivery times

Over the last year, the business has experienced more difficulties than I've come across during my three decades experience. In the past I have seen sharp price increases, and I have witnessed several shortages, and delivery problems resulting from material allocations by resin vendors. This is definitely the first instance I have seen all these issues at the same time.

PTFE Sheet (TFE) and PVDF both are on allocation.

These two resins are in short supply. The  PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene product PTFE (TFE) along with PVDF  manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The world need for this mineral has increased significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and extremely low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is used within tons of applications from non-stick fry cookware to ptfe tape for use at home. This specific mineral is the crucial raw material inside the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and several refrigerants. This escalating demand combined with general shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double throughout the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to stay in affect in the near future.
